Mar 24, 2010· I had a Smithy Lathe and Mill combination machine for years, it was a good lathe for basic turning, threading on that machine was a joke! the mill was basically a glorified drill press, and changing the tooling from lathe to mill was a PIA. Just go buy a used American made lathe and Seperate American made Mill.
